If you start with Mass Effect 3, you'll need to play practically all of its content to avoid an ending that doesn't result in massive galactic losses. The Galaxy at War mathematics have been changed to favor those who played through the entire trilogy.Because of the removal of Galactic Readiness from the Galaxy at War mechanic, the War Terminal in the Normandy's War Room now goes straight to the War Assets section.Galactic Readiness is now always at 100%, meaning the Effective Military Strength of all War Assets are always at their highest strength. War Assets are no longer affected by any sort of Galactic Readiness system influenced outside of Mass Effect 3's campaign, such as the Multiplayer Mode, the defunct Datapad App or the N7 HQ Galaxy at War minigame.Notably, the M-597 Ladon Heavy Weapon from the Special Edition of the game on Wii U is not included. When swapping to a new weapon at the Weapon Bench, any mods you had equipped on your previous one are automatically moved to the new one.The ammo drop rate has been increased, particularly when using sniper rifles.Entering and exiting cover is now more reliable.Additional cover has been added to some combat encounters. The Locked-In Romance picture of Tali that she leaves in the Captain's Cabin after she survives Priority: Rannoch has been changed from an altered stock photo to a picture of her unmasked but still in her suit.Real-time reflections have been added to select areas, such as the fish tank in the Captain's Cabin aboard the Normandy or the bathroom mirrors in the Personal Apartment in the Citadel DLC.Depth of field effects have been improved to give a cinematic "bokeh" effect, rather than being a transparent blur layer.Shadows and post-processing effects have been added or improved, such as ambient occlusion and anti-aliasing.Any cutscenes that were taken in-engine have been re-rendered in 4K with the improved assets, with additional details, effects and color correction added.
